【About Us】
Noge Hana*Hana is the result of years of regional development work between the people of Noge and the Yokohama City government. The project started ten years ago as a land improvement development plan led by Yokohama City, and finally it has been realized as a cooperative shared facility for the Noge district. Noge Hana*Hana is going to be a center for activities that revitalize the Noge district and transmit new culture rooted in the area.
The activities and facilities are operated by the Noge Hana*Hana Committee, which is a new organization made up of members of the local urban planning committee, a number of art NPOs, and other interested members of the community.
Noge Hana*Hana operates a cooperative shared office called “Media Guild” for groups or individuals working in the fields of visual arts and media, which will play a role in the “Creative City for Arts and Media” initiative run by the Yokohama City government. The aim is to act as an incubator for cultural industries and foster the growth of arts and media businesses in the Noge district. We are also going to support the growth of people who can support the Yokohama Creative City initiative and start new businesses that will contribute to revitalizing the district.
We sincerely hope that Noge Hana*Hana will be able to be establish itself as a cultural institution in the Noge district, and that it will become a well-loved community gathering place.

【Acticities and Facilities】
Noge Hana*Hana features four main activities:
1) Free space
We operate 3 multi-purpose rental spaces, Space A, B, and C. By using movable walls, these rooms can be used either as one big room (141.29㎡) or as 2 to 3 divided rooms. Each room is equipped with black curtains and is suitable for lectures and events using a projector. A big screen is set in Space A. Space B and C have movable walls for the window side so they could be used for an exhibition using all four walls. The space can also be used as a multi-purpose venue for various events such as screenings, exhibitions, cultural courses, workshops, performance rehearsals, or as a photography studio.
2) Media Guild
We manage a cooperative office made up of businesses and individuals who deal with visual media. It is used as the residence office by organizations and individuals selected from a public recruiting process. We also hold regular Media Guild meetings to encourage one another and promote the projects and activities of Noge Hana*Hana together.
Media Guild Members: CELL DESIGN, creative office tie, K photo Service, S. D. L. NADI, Rei 2 3 Co., Ltd., ROD Co., Ltd., and Yokohama City Guide Association.
3) The Darkroom International
The Darkroom International is the first Japanese art NPO that runs a full-scale rental darkroom for printing photographs. It became an authorized nonprofit corporation in 2004 and has been organizing numbers of various events and photographic exhibitions based on the basic idea of enjoying photos. As a continuation of their activities, The Darkroom International practices photographic exhibitions and educational programs rooted in the community.
4) NOGEDIA: Arts and Media School
In cooperation with the Yokohama International Festival for Arts and Media(CREAM), we launch NOGEDIA: Arts and Media School. One purpose of the school is to cultivate human resources as a part of Yokohama’s “City of Arts and Media Culture” initiative. Courses and workshops at the school are designed to both teach visual expression and technique as well as develop professionals who have skills to survive and adapt in the marketplace. We will also foster media literacy in order to understand visual media and convey its rich cultural resources to other people.
